Your Mission:
As a Senior Structural Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the resilience of our naval systems against shock loading. Here’s what you’ll be doing:
* Develop and Maintain: Naval Shock Requirements, ensuring clarity and proper flow-down to systems, equipment, and suppliers.
* Manage Verification: Maintain evidence to demonstrate compliance with Naval Shock Requirements throughout the product lifecycle.
* Review Evidence: Assess shock qualification evidence from suppliers and internal teams, ensuring robustness and technical credibility.
* Conduct Assessments: Perform detailed stress assessments of equipment under pseudo-static shock loading, identifying risks and recommending mitigations.
* Support Testing: Plan and execute shock testing activities, defining loading conditions and reviewing test results.
* Document Compliance: Produce clear, auditable evidence of compliance through formal calculations and technical reports.
* Drive Improvement: Contribute to the early identification and resolution of technical issues, supporting continuous improvement.
Your Skills and Experiences:
Essential:
* A degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related STEM discipline.
* Strong understanding of structural mechanics and dynamics principles, with practical application skills.
* Knowledge of material strength behavior and its influence on structural performance.
Desirable:
* Familiarity with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools for structural assessment.
* Understanding of Fluid-Structure Interaction (FSI) concepts.
* A clear ambition to pursue professional chartership and commitment to ongoing development.

Join a team that plays a critical role in ensuring a vessel’s functionality after experiencing shock loading from Naval Underwater Explosion Events (UNDEX). Your expertise will support systems throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring compliance with demanding Naval Shock requirements. Collaborate with a variety of stakeholders and engage in hands-on engineering analysis, including structural calculations and specialist Naval Shock Testing.
