I'm currently supporting a client who is looking to appoint a Project Engineer to strengthen their Operations and Maintenance team in Norfolk. This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of high voltage (HV) projects, covering everything from planning and delivery through to completion.

The position is hands-on and varied, involving HV switching at 11kV and 33kV, managing small remedial works, and coordinating teams to deliver on safety, quality, and performance standards.

This role would suit an experienced Electrical Engineer or Senior Authorised Person (SAP) who thrives in project environments and enjoys combining technical expertise with client-facing responsibilities.

Responsibilities

* Inspecting and maintaining LV/HV substation equipment.
* Carrying out protection testing and reporting results.
* Undertaking HV/LV jointing, including specialist cable terminations.
* Fault finding and troubleshooting across electrical systems.
* Installing and commissioning switchgear and transformers.
* Testing earthing systems and associated equipment.
* Preparing remedial works quotations and presenting solutions.
* Producing detailed work packages, job instructions, and RAMS.
* Coordinating technicians, craftspeople, and subcontractors.
* Allocating project resources effectively to meet targets.
* Liaising with clients and stakeholders to manage expectations.
* Ensuring projects comply with safety regulations and system performance requirements.
* Planning and executing HV switching, isolation, and earthing up to 33kV.
* Issuing permits and safety documentation in line with rules and procedures.
* Testing installations, analysing data, and producing technical reports.

Experience & Qualifications

* Senior Authorised Person (SAP) up to and including 33kV.
* HNC (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, ideally with a focus on Power Distribution.
* Background in private networks and/or the renewable energy sector.
* Strong knowledge of current Health & Safety legislation.
* GWO certifications for onshore wind farm work.
* Emergency First Aid & Manual Handling certifications.
* Full UK driving licence.
* Confident IT skills to support project delivery.

Benefits

* Vehicle/Allowance: A company vehicle will be issued, suitable to the role (4x4 or van).
* Bonus: Eligible for the company bonus scheme, further details to be shared at interview stage.
* Pension Contribution: Company contributes 4% into the pension scheme.
* Additional Benefits:
* Option to join the Private Medical Scheme (company pays the employee's contribution; family members can be added at the employee's cost via monthly payroll deductions).
