About the Role
To undertake fee-earning work in Residential Property with responsibility for a caseload within a supportive team. Providing an efficient and profitable residential conveyancing service to clients. Active engagement in relevant training and development across the subject area and assisting department growth and development e.g. by generating referrals, recommendations and marketing.
Responsibilities
* To work within the department’s requirements, policies and guidelines.
* To use the case management system for the department.
* To case manage work effectively, complying with regulatory requirements, e.g. those relating to anti-money laundering and mortgage fraud prevention, CQS accreditation, CML and the SRA Code of Conduct.
* Ensuring confidentiality and security of firm’s and client’s documentation and information.
* To improve and enhance the firm’s client base by effective liaison with existing clients.
* Be effective in developing new work from existing clients and seek new clients for themselves and others i.e. develop and support marketing initiatives.
* Maintain and nurture an appropriate network of contacts and referrers and endeavour to promote the firm.
* To maximise the firm’s potential to cross-sell services by identifying appropriate opportunities.
General
* Using the precedents for the residential department where necessary and the department’s case management system.
* Adopting methods of work that ensure uniformity across the department.
* Complying with onboarding requirements.
* Handling matters from start to finish with the aim of providing clients with a service that is superior to our competitors and at the same time managing risk and exposure to risk in order to protect the firm from claims and complaints.
* Taking care to make sure documents are accurate and suitable to the matter.
* Drafting letters and legal documents and completing forms.
* Liaising directly with other necessary parties with enquiries/replies.
* Ensuring that all aspects of the matter are comprehensively dealt with be the matter a sale, purchase, transfer of equity or other matter.
* Reporting to clients with relevant information on their transaction and advising clients where necessary.
* Completing transactions in accordance with practice and procedure.
* Ensuring you keep up to date with continuing professional development.
* Where necessary, submitting stamp duty forms and registering documents at Land Registry.
* Ensuring compliance with current accounts practice.
* Financial control through the timely collection of monies on account and billing procedures on own matters.
* Keeping up with the changes in law and procedures.
* Any other tasks and duties reasonably assigned from time to time to meet requirements.
Qualifications
Qualified Solicitor (admission to the roll of Solicitors and live Practicing Certificate for England and Wales.) Meeting the character and suitability requirements of the SRA.
Required Skills
* Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
* Excellent client care and communication skills to work effectively with all types of people.
* Highly competent user of all elements of IT provided by the firm.
* Responsible for self-development and compliance with relevant training requirements in the area of Residential Property as well as wider core skills.
* Excellent attention to detail.
