Role: Technical Lecturer – Electrical Installation

Location: Bedford College – Cauldwell Street Campus

Salary/Benefits: Salary is between £33,048 and £38,169 per annum DOE and Qualifications with up to a £10,000 Market Supplement available for suitable candidates, 45 days annual leave plus Bank holidays, Teacher’s pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses.

Hours/Weeks: 37 hours per week – 52 weeks per year

Contract Type: Permanent – Full Time

This is a UK based contract, and you are required to have the Right to Work in the UK. Unfortunately, we’re unable to offer sponsorship and any offer of employment will be subject to evidence of your Right to Work in the UK.

About the role:

We are currently seeking a Technical Lecturer in Electrical Installation to join our Construction department at The Bedford College Group.

As a Technical Lecturer, you play an important role in the success of our students through:

1. Teaching & Assessment – Plan, deliver, and assess practical and theoretical learning across agriculture courses, ensuring high-quality, industry-informed education.
2. Student Support & Progress – Guide and mentor students to achieve success, monitor progress, and provide tutorials and pastoral care.
3. Curriculum Development – Contribute to schemes of work, integrate industry relevance, and support vocational and employer-linked opportunities.
4. Collaboration & Quality – Work with colleagues on continuous improvement, participate in meetings, and implement quality assurance processes.
5. Compliance & College Engagement – Uphold safeguarding, EDI, and health & safety standards; support open days, exams, and College-wide initiatives.

About you:

6. Essential Qualifications – GCSE Maths and English, plus a minimum Level 3 qualification in the specialist subject area.
7. Professional Development Commitment – Willingness to achieve TAQA Level 3, PTTLS Level 3, and PGCE or Cert Ed.
8. Industry & Subject Expertise – Recent relevant industry experience and strong understanding of vocational skills and knowledge requirements.
9. Core Skills & Attributes – Excellent communication, planning, IT proficiency, confidentiality, and ability to work independently or in a team under pressure.
10. Values & Flexibility – Demonstrates alignment with TBCG policies (EDI, safeguarding, health & safety), adaptability to changing workloads, and ability to travel across campuses.
