Senior Environmental & Compliance Advisor
Production Engineering Section
A permanent vacancy has arisen within our client's Production Engineering Section for a Senior Environmental & Compliance Advisor.
The successful candidate's main focus will be to provide expert environmental and technical advice to ensure that our client's site complies with all applicable environmental regulations and to lead, drive, and support business operating improvements to achieve their multiple objectives in the drive to Net Zero. This includes identifying key areas for business improvements to reduce the carbon footprint and overhead costs, liaising with stakeholders, and supporting upgrade/replacement of plant equipment and services.
Salary: Up to £55,000 + Benefits
Hours of Work: 7am - 4pm (Monday - Thursday), 7am - 12pm Fridays
Main Duties:
1. Ensuring all aspects of Environmental, Safety, and Quality are documented and embedded into processes.
2. Liaising with Environmental Associations and regulatory agencies to stay updated on changes in legislation affecting design and manufacture.
3. Supporting understanding and implementation of EU/UK directives.
4. Providing technical expertise in interpreting relevant directives.
5. Assisting operations management in maintaining compliance and investigating issues.
6. Advising on product and process design issues from an environmental perspective.
7. Conducting environmental investigations and waste acceptance programs.
8. Coordinating site inspections.
9. Providing compliance support, plans, and reports.
10. Managing techniques for handling hazardous materials in compliance with standards.
11. Supporting ISO14001 and other relevant standards.
12. Managing energy saving opportunities (ESOS) and SECR.
13. Investigating benefits from government initiatives and grants.
14. Maintaining plans, permits, and SOPs (effluent discharge, emissions, etc.).
15. Supporting the company's Net Zero journey.
16. Interpreting data on water, waste, energy, and refrigerant gases.
17. Serving as the point of contact for MACE energy supply broker.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:
* 5+ years of environmental or compliance experience preferred.
* Degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Environmental Engineering, or equivalent.
* Experience in a manufacturing environment.
* Project management experience.
* Excellent communication and meeting facilitation skills.
* Working knowledge of ISO14001 with auditing experience.
