The Role of CAD Technician
We're looking for an experienced CAD Technician to join our busy Engineering / Projects team to take the lead on all tasks relating to CAD within the business. They will be responsible for receiving incoming CAD, conducting initial reviews, and then systematically organizing and logging data. They will also break down drawings into component parts to share with other departments to allow them to progress with their aspects of the projects.
The role is predominantly self-managed with regular reporting of progress to the Managers for Projects & Tooling.
Key Responsibilities
* Act as a point of contact for all customers for any CAD-related activities and coordinate the downloading of data from customer portals.
* Work closely with Engineers and other departments in reviewing/interpreting customer CAD data and breaking out of individual components where necessary.
* Control the CAD filing process to ensure that all customer CAD data is logged correctly within designated project files.
* Work closely with tooling engineers to generate supplier fixture specifications to aid in the assembly of the components.
* Support engineering and other departments with any CAD-related requests.
* Complete administrative tasks such as managing weekly tooling review meetings and acting as the point of contact for tooling suppliers.
* Carry out other administrative tasks such as generating assembly fixture specifications and managing tooling tracking sheets.
What We're Looking For
* Experience in using Catia V5 for drawing modifications is essential.
* Good understanding of Geometrical Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) is essential to support interpretation of customer drawings and data.
* Knowledge of 3DX is advantageous but not essential.
* Experience with automotive systems and IATF standards is advantageous but not essential.
* An understanding of fluid management would be helpful but not essential.
