England Athletics is a membership organisation with c1,928 member clubs/bodies and c176,000 registered athletes, which exists to provide services and support to its members and to promote and deliver athletics and running activities across all ages, event disciplines, ability levels and aspirations and to give support to the wider sport where there are more than 6m who run each month in England, 2,251 licensed road races and 244,050 active RunTogether participants operating in more than 3,439 groups.

The Role:
A vacancy has arisen at England Athletics for a Youth Competition Manager, on a permanent basis. The Youth Competition Manager will work closely and collaboratively across the areas of club support, club-school links, and competition.
Leading the coordinated roll out of the newly endorsed and recommended track and field competition format for Under 10s and 12s, being responsible for the management, and service support to member clubs and competition providers in the lead towards April 2026 when the new age groups for competition will come into force under the UKA rules of competition.
The postholder will be responsible for managing a series of pilot competitions across the nine English regions during 2025 working closely with competition providers and internal stakeholders, including those responsible for digital support, marketing and communications, and other members of the club support and competition teams at England Athletics. The postholder would also be responsible for managing the day-to-day relationship with key partners in this specific space such as Sportshall Athletics and with Youth Sport Trust via the School Games Programme.
The successful candidate will work collaboratively and creatively with existing EA staff and partners to be the lead point of contact for Under 10s and 12s competition in England, providing proactive leadership in this space, resources, toolkits, advice and guidance to help a smooth roll out of competitions across the domestic sport.
This individual will need to be self-motivated, well organised, have good people and project management skills and possess good levels of emotional intelligence and self-awareness.
The postholder will be responsible for, but not limited to:
* Project management team for organisation and delivery of the new Under 10s and 12 run, jump and throw funetics multi events challenge (FMC) at England Athletics, embedding this systemically into EA member clubs, competition providers and schools across England.
* Working with external stakeholders and partners such as Sportshall Athletics, proactively to better understand their support needs, providing resources, timely responses to questions, and in creating national buy into this programme ahead of April 2026.
* Taking a lead in producing a 365 all year-round youth competition calendar offer for Under 10s and 12s in England working closely with key stakeholders such as Sportshall Athletics, YST, the SGO network and member clubs.
* Advising existing competition providers in England around event organisation, product development and athlete experience to embed both Funetics Multi Challenge and Sportshall into the member club offer in a systemic and developmental way.
* Hosting online webinars, conferences, meetings with key stakeholder and partners to better promote the Under 10 and 12 competition format concept and to encourage networking and collaboration between clubs and providers, particularly at county and local level.
* Support the roll out of a number of FMC Community festivals in the lead up to and including the European Athletic Championships 2026
* Manage the Personal Best (PB) Awards
