We are looking for reliable, compassionate, and hardworking Porters to join our bank scheme to cover shifts in the Estates & Facilities team at George Eliot Hospital. As a key member of the hospital support service, you will help ensure the smooth running of clinical operations by safely and efficiently moving patients, goods, equipment, and waste throughout the Trust.
You will play a vital part in maintaining a safe, clean, and caring environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
What you’ll be responsible for:
The Porter will be providing the following support to the Estates & Facilities team.
* Provide a portering service to all wards & departments. To escort and convey patients by wheelchair, bed or trolley
* Distribute food trolleys and boxes – and food items
* Report any suspicious incidents and assist where necessary
* When required, assist with low level security requests
* When required, assist with car parking duties
* Comply with the health and safety procedures when moving patients/equipment’s around the site.
* Use all work equipment and personal PPE properly and in accordance with training received.
Key skills & Qualities
* Good communication and interpersonal skills.
* Physically fit and able to undertake manual handling tasks.
* Calm, professional, and compassionate in a busy hospital environment.
* Work well as part of a team and can adapt to changing priorities.
* Experience working in a customer service, healthcare, or facilities environment desirable but not essential.
