National Grid is hiring a PMO Lead for our Electricity Transmission (NGET) team. This role is designated as hybrid, with an expectation of one or two days per month in one of our offices. Requirements may vary based on business needs and company policy.


About the Role


To support the provision of Product and Platform office and expertise to the UK ITET team, providing a holistic view, controlling costs, growing capability and stability.


What You'll Do


Portfolio, programme and project support - Providing support and guidance on portfolio, programme and project management processes, procedures, tools and techniques.

• Supports programme or project control boards, project assurance teams and quality review meetings.

• Takes responsibility for the provision of support services to projects. Uses and recommends project control solutions for planning, scheduling and tracking projects.

• Sets up and provides detailed guidance on project management software, procedures, processes, tools and techniques.

• Provides basic guidance on individual project proposals. May provide a cross programme view on risk, change, quality, finance or configuration management.

Quality Assurance - Assuring, through ongoing and periodic assessments and reviews, that the organisation's quality objectives are being met.

• Plans, organises and conducts assessment activity and determines whether appropriate quality control has been applied.

• Conducts formal assessments or reviews for given domain areas, suppliers, or parts of the supply chain. Collates, collects and examines records, analyses the evidence and drafts all or part of formal compliance reports.

• Determines the risks associated with findings and non-compliance and proposes corrective actions.

• Provides advice and guidance in the use of organisational standards.

Feasibility Assessment (Change Analysis) - Defining, evaluating and describing business change options for financial, technical and business feasibility, and strategic alignment.

• Selects relevant feasibility assessment approaches and techniques.

• Identifies the range of possible options. Undertakes short-listing of options and feasibility assessment.

• Engages with internal and external stakeholders to get the information required for feasibility assessment.

• Supports preparation of business cases including cost/benefit, impact and risk analysis for each option.

Resourcing - Acquiring, deploying and onboarding resources.

• Supports managers and teams in resourcing and recruitment activities.

• Uses recommended tools for planning, scheduling, and tracking resourcing activity.

• Provides guidance on resource management and recruitment software, procedures, processes, tools and techniques.

Business Intelligence - Developing, producing and delivering regular and one-off management information to provide insights and aid decision-making.

• Supports business intelligence needs of specific management or governance processes or operational areas.

• Investigates the need for business intelligence reporting and analysis where there is some complexity and ambiguity.

• Selects and applies non-standard business intelligence tools and techniques to provide insights and aid decision-making. Selects, acquires and integrates data for analysis.

• Identifies opportunities to digitise and streamline operational data handling and optimise business intelligence capabilities.

Stakeholder relationship management - Influencing stakeholder attitudes, decisions, and actions for mutual benefit.

• Deals with problems and issues, managing resolutions, corrective actions, lessons learned, and the collection and dissemination of relevant information.

• Implements stakeholder engagement/communications plan.

• Collects and uses feedback from customers and stakeholders to help measure the effectiveness of stakeholder management.

• Helps develop and enhance customer and stakeholder relationships.


About You



• In depth knowledge of the range of roles performed by the PSO to facilitate skills matching of individuals to requirements and creation of development plans

• Strong background in process and performance improvement, using data to enable informed decision making.

• Experience of matrix management of resources.

• Experience of utilising Project planning tools e.g., MS Project or Project Online

• Experience of working with senior stakeholders to understand their requirements and set clear expectations.

• Skilled at setting up career development plans to attract and retain permanent resources in a specialised environment, building technical capability that both supports the current demand of the team and creates career progression through the PMO structure for longer term stability.

What You'll Get

* Competitive Salary: circa £55,000 - £65,000 per annum (dependent on location, capability, and experience).
