Role Description
This is a full time, on-site Solicitor role based in Taunton. The Solicitor will manage a caseload of public law children matters, including PLO, care proceedings and adoption. Daily responsibilities include advising clients, drafting court documents and correspondence, preparing statements and bundles, and representing clients at hearings and conferences with counsel. The role involves liaising with courts, local authorities, and other professionals, while ensuring accurate file management and compliance with regulatory and firm procedures. The Solicitor will contribute to the firm’s reputation by providing clear, empathetic legal advice and supporting the ongoing development of family law services.
Qualifications
* Strong foundation in Law, with a current practising certificate as a Solicitor.
* Demonstrated expertise in Family Law, including public law children matters.
* Experience or familiarity with related areas such as private law children is beneficial.
* Excellent client‑care, communication, and negotiation skills, with the ability to work sensitively with individuals in distressing circumstances.
* Strong drafting, advocacy, and case management abilities, including effective time management and attention to detail.
* Ability to work independently on‑site in Taunton and remotely while collaborating effectively with colleagues and external professionals.
* Experience in legal aid family work and public law children proceedings is essential.
