Role Overview
Lead engineering that keeps the Royal Navy mission‑ready. Guide a small team of engineers and project professionals delivering outputs that sustain the UK’s in‑service submarine fleet. Lead Vanguard and Astute class life‑extension activities, collaborating with the Ministry of Defence. Serve as the primary contact for the team and subcontractors, administer the MoD interface, manage contractual aspects, and coordinate stakeholders to keep plans, risks and deliverables on track across a complex engineering environment.
Responsibilities
* Lead the delivery of engineering and project outputs under the VACAS programme for in‑service submarines
* Act as the primary project and technical contact for your team and subcontractors
* Administer the customer interface with the MoD for Babcock’s VACAS contribution
* Manage contractual aspects and ensure compliance with internal business requirements
* Coordinate stakeholders to keep plans, risks and deliverables on track across a complex engineering environment
Essential Experience
* Project management and leadership experience in a complex technical engineering environment
* Proven ability to lead and motivate teams
* Strong stakeholder management and customer‑facing skills
* Knowledge of project management best practice and governance
* Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities
Qualifications
* APMP level or above Project Management qualification preferred but not essential; funded training available
* A degree in Engineering, Project Management, Construction Management, or a related discipline, or substantial relevant experience in place of formal qualifications
Security Clearance
Must be a UK national able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) clearance. Eligibility may be affected by birthplace, nationality, citizenship, residency, or other security considerations.
