Data Products Specialist
The Data Products Specialist plays a key role in shaping and delivering analytics‑ready data products that accelerate evidence generation and insight delivery. The position is under the Data Product Lead and involves collaborating with engineering, governance, and domain teams to define data product specifications, design data pipelines, and ensure product usability and compliance. You will translate scientific and operational needs into structured, scalable data products, help develop and maintain curated datasets and data marts for clinical and operational insights, and translate user needs into data product requirements, specifications, and roadmaps.
Responsibilities
* Define data product specifications and design data pipelines to ensure product usability and compliance.
* Translate scientific and operational needs into structured, scalable data products that enable reuse and facilitate insight generation across PD.
* Support development and maintenance of curated datasets and data marts used for clinical and operational insights.
* Build proficiency in translating user needs into data product requirements, specifications, and roadmaps.
* Understand organizational needs and data challenges that drive foundational data products to improve interoperability, reusability, and downstream analysis.
* Assist with data ingestion, cleaning, and standardization processes.
* Implement and test transformations to ensure data consistency, traceability, and alignment with business rules.
* Document data sources, assumptions, and transformations to promote transparency and reuse.
* Build relationships with business stakeholders and end‑users to advocate for data products and foster trust and value.
* Contribute to troubleshooting data quality issues and collaborate with engineering or product partners to resolve blockers.
* Contribute to KPIs and usage metrics tracking for continuous improvement.
Qualifications
* Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, Bioinformatics, or a related technical discipline.
* 2–4 years of experience working with structured data to support analytics or reporting use cases, or an advanced degree with 0–2 years of equivalent work experience.
* Working knowledge of SQL or Python and familiarity with data versioning or ETL tools.
* Quick learner able to work in a cross‑functional environment and contribute to multiple projects in parallel.
* Demonstrates independent thinking, sound decision‑making, and strategic agility beyond the technical domain.
* Respects cultural differences when interacting with colleagues in the global workplace.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including presentation and writing, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly.
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience with biomedical data use cases and familiarity with basic data modeling concepts.
* Exposure to cloud‑based tools or version control systems such as Git, Airflow, or S3.
* Strong communication and documentation skills, including the ability to clearly explain datasets to end users.
* Ability to work within Agile frameworks, including SAFe, to drive iterative development, cross‑functional collaboration, and efficient backlog management.
* Experience applying product management principles to data assets with contributions to data product design and implementation across organizational silos.
Additional Information
This is an office‑based role 2–3 days onsite. Relocation assistance is not available.
