Position:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Speech and Language Therapy based at West Road Centre, Irvine.

What you will do:

1. To have responsibility for the management of a highly specialist case load within Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) ensuring effective assessment, diagnosis and management to meet patients’ needs.
2. To advise and provide clinical support to other therapists/students/staff on SLT issues, as well as supervising the work of assistants.
3. May have responsibility for a designated portfolio.
4. To represent the specialist contribution of Speech and Language Therapy within CAMHS in a range of multi-disciplinary/multi-agency forumswithin and out with the organisation as required by the CAMHS Team Lead/Neurodevelopmental Team Co-ordinator.
5. The post holder is employed by NHS Ayrshire and Arran CAMHS and there will be
6. requirements to work flexibly across all three partnerships to meet service demands
7. To provide a service for individuals, their carer’s and wider communities within a wide
8. range of locations to meet the young person’s mental health needs within Ayrshire and Arran
9. Within the caseload there will be a wide range of Speech and Language diagnoses which may include disorders of speech, language, voice, fluency, communication, eating and swallowing

Knowledge, training and/or experience required to do the job:

10. University Degree or equivalent (3 years ordinary degree/4 years’ honours degree).
11. Certificate to practise from HCPC (Health Care Professions Council).
12. Membership of Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (desirable).
13. A level of specialist skills to undertake and fulfil the key areas for this post.
14. Minimum 4 years post graduate experience.
15. Evidence of audit and understanding of Quality Improvement methodology.
16. Excellent interpersonal skills.
17. Evidence of maintaining and improving own competency to practice through continuing professional development activities.

Hours:

37 hours per week Monday - Friday

UK Driving Licence/Car Ownership:

A UK car licence/car ownership is essential to this role.
