Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and enthusiastic Band 3 Healthcare Assistant to join the Respiratory & Sleep Service at ELHT primarily based within Royal Blackburn Hospital, Burnley General and Rossendale Health Centre.
The successful candidate should possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be able to demonstrate a problem solving approach to their work and be flexible to work across the pathways of care within clinical settings of Respiratory.
The Respiratory & Sleep Service work in a busy department currently operational over 5 days of the week, carrying out a wide variety of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures and investigations. We deliver high standards of care to all our patients and are looking for a keen and motivated person to work alongside of our friendly, hardworking team.
The service is committed to training and developing staff within their role and any required training will be provided.
Responsibilities
* Provide competent assistance during a range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures and ensure support and reassurance to patients undergoing same.
* Perform Blood gases, basis Spirometry and sleep studies with supervision from Registered staff
* Gain understanding and occasional participation of the decontamination processes of all equipment and have awareness of general and specific infection control measures and related issues
* Participate in moving & handling needs of patients
* Competent I.T. skills
* General cleaning of clinical areas and equipment in accordance with Infection Control Policies.
* Assist in maintenance of adequate stock levels
* Work alongside the wider MDT

The Healthcare Assistant will carry out delegated, appropriate therapeutic interventions as requested by a Nurse, Physiotherapist or a Healthy Lifestyle Officer. They will be responsible for feeding back information regarding patient’s progress.
The work will take place in a variety of settings including the hospitals, community and primary care settings.
