Alzheimer’s Society is the UK’s leading dementia charity, supporting people through every aspect of the condition—from funding research and campaigning for change to delivering frontline support and services. We aim to improve the lives of those affected by dementia and create a future where it no longer devastates lives.
We are seeking our next Associate Director of Finance to join us and help make a difference for people affected by dementia. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Associate Director of Finance will provide strategic leadership on all financial matters, ensuring long-term financial sustainability and effectiveness. As a senior leader, you will work closely with executive colleagues, the Board of Trustees, and external partners, leading our finance functions including financial planning, analysis, accounting, control, payroll, procurement, and transformation.
This high-impact role involves shaping financial processes, culture, and enhancing the overall financial decision-making capability of the organization. We seek a qualified finance professional (ACA, ACCA, CIPFA, ACMA, or equivalent) with significant post-qualified experience in senior finance roles. You should demonstrate strategic thinking, operational leadership, and team management skills. A proven track record of driving financial performance, embedding controls, and fostering accountability is essential. Charity sector experience and knowledge of Charity SORP are beneficial but not mandatory.
As a leader, you will bring emotional intelligence, excellent communication skills, and a collaborative approach. You should be comfortable working at pace, managing complexity, and focusing on outcomes and impact. We value candidates who share our core values—making a difference, working collaboratively, acting with compassion, and focusing on the people we serve.
This is an excellent opportunity to leverage your financial expertise to support a cause impacting millions across the UK. If you are motivated to contribute to our mission and lead us forward, we would love to hear from you.
