Locum Occupational Therapist - Adult Social Care

About the Role
* We are looking for a motivated and compassionate Occupational Therapist to join our Adult Social Care Occupational Therapy Team.
* This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of adults, older people, and individuals with disabilities across Powys.
* As an Occupational Therapist, you will play a vital role in promoting independence, safety, and wellbeing.
* You will assess people’s needs holistically, design and implement personalised care plans, and work collaboratively with colleagues, carers, and other agencies to help people live safely and confidently at home and in their communities.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide a high-quality Occupational Therapy service to individuals of all ages and abilities living in the community.
* Carry out functional assessments and develop personalised care plans to support independence and wellbeing.
* Identify and manage risks while promoting autonomy for service users and their carers.
* Work collaboratively with health, housing, and voluntary sector partners.
* Prescribe specialist equipment and adaptations, and prepare reports to support Disabled Facilities Grants (DFGs).
* Supervise and support Occupational Therapy Community Support Officers and students in training.
* Maintain accurate case records in line with departmental policies and professional standards.
* Contribute to service development and continuous improvement.
Essential criteria include:
* A recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy (e.g. BSc OT or DipCOT).
* Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
* Experience of assessing needs and managing complex cases in a health or social care setting.
* Strong understanding of legislation, safeguarding, and best practice in adult social care.
* Good IT, organisational, and communication skills.
* Ability to travel extensively across Powys (a driving licence is essential).
