Our client, a leading company in the rail sector, is seeking a Lead Engineer/CRE (Civils) for a long‑term contract based in the North West region. This role will involve working on a large rail infrastructure project and requires a strong background in civils, particularly lineside civils. The successful applicant will be working inside IR35.
Key Responsibilities
* Leading the delivery of civil engineering projects within the rail sector
* Be the design & construction interface
* Managing and overseeing the day‑to‑day activities of the project engineering team
* Ensuring compliance with relevant safety standards and regulations
* Acting as the Contractor's Responsible Engineer (CRE) for civil works
* Coordinating with stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery
* Providing technical guidance and ensuring quality control throughout project phases
* Preparing and reviewing project documentation and reports
* Maintaining effective communication with the client and project team
Job Requirements
* Extensive experience in civil engineering within the rail industry
* Proven experience performing CRE duties and obtaining sign‑off
* Strong understanding of lineside civils and associated challenges
* Holder of a valid PTS/Sentinel certification
* Excellent project management and leadership skills
* Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Ability to work effectively in a team environment and manage multiple priorities
