Static Occupational Therapist, Band 6

We are looking to recruit a motivated Occupational Therapist to join our Home First Team at Ashford and St Peter's Hospitals NHS Trust. The post is static, working within Urgent and Emergency Care alongside other Occupational and Physiotherapy professionals in a transdisciplinary way. You will also be required to work closely with Therapy Assistants, Complex Discharge and Frailty Teams and the Community Services providing an enhanced multidisciplinary assessment and seamless discharge.

The role will offer you the opportunity to work with varied MDT professionals allowing you to refine your clinical skills and development of self and also focus on developing others and your own specialist skills.

There is an established formal supervision and appraisal process as well as robust in‑house training within the team.

Applications are welcome from experienced Band 5s and Band 6s looking to experience and develop in a different specialist clinical setting. Acute NHS experience is desirable, but applications with similar experience will be considered.

ASPH offers a seven‑day service across some teams and you will be expected to participate in seven‑day working as per service requirements. Flexible working requests will be considered.


Main duties of the job

The postholder will:

* Work as an autonomous practitioner to manage a specialist caseload within the Urgent and Emergency Care Division.
* Use specialist skills in the assessment and management of a range of patient groups, primarily older adults, with complex presentations and demonstrate sound clinical reasoning to inform decision making for safe discharge planning.
* Provide clinical updates and support to the Home First team and other members of the MDT/profession.
* Be involved in developing the service in line with national and local strategic plans.
* Supervise junior members of staff, University and return‑to‑practice Therapy students and those undertaking Apprenticeships.

Person Specification


Qualifications and Training

* Evidence of ongoing professional development.


Experience

* Post‑graduate training and experience working in relevant clinical areas.
* Experience of managing staff and students.
* Teaching of patients, carers, peers and other health and social care staff.


Knowledge and Skills

* Communication skills including conflict management and dealing with challenging situations.
* Experience managing caseload, non‑clinical time and ability to delegate to others.
* Carry out a wide range of assessment and treatment interventions for complex clinical presentations.
* Teaching Skills.
