Psychology & Criminology Graduates – SEND Support Assistants Needed
Are you a psychology or criminology graduate, or a final-year undergraduate, looking for hands-on experience working with children with additional needs? Protocol Education is offering a fantastic opportunity to gain practical experience in a well-led, nurturing primary school in North Tyneside.
This full-time, term-time only role is ideal for those interested in careers in educational psychology, mental health, social work, youth justice, or teaching. You will be working closely with children who have experienced significant trauma and have Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, many with Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs).
Why This Role? Gain hands-on experience supporting children with SEMH needs in a structured school environment

Work alongside experienced teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams

Develop skills in behaviour management, emotional regulation, and trauma-informed approaches

A long-term opportunity that could lead to a permanent role or support further studies

The Role Involves: Supporting pupils with SEMH and complex needs in a well-run, inclusive setting

Building trusting relationships to help children overcome barriers to learning

Assisting with interventions designed to promote emotional resilience and engagement

Learning from professionals in education, psychology, and child development
