This is an exciting and challenging post, in a unique setting within the MOD and offers the opportunity for the Area Manager to deliver high profile outputs within a complex, busy overseas estate. The role is a demanding one and requires a well-developed understanding of, and a proven track record in infrastructure and estate services planning, procurement, and delivery. The British Forces Cyprus (BFC) and Sovereign Base Areas (SBA) estate is diverse and complex and underpins various highly critical military outputs by providing and maintaining safe, legally compliant and fit for purpose facilities and associated infrastructure. The DIO Area Manager is the senior DIO person on island and is therefore seen as the figurehead for infrastructure matters within the Area. The DIO Regional Delivery team comprises of: Hard and Soft Facility managers; Assurance managers; Programme managers; Asset manager; Cost managers; Commercial manager; H&S, environmental and Utilities management specialists; Business support. DIO also advises on specialist engineering matters including hydrology and seismology. The DIO Area Manager sits at the head of this team. Day to day communication with 1* and 2* BFC and SBA leaders is an essential part of the job and requires mastery of infrastructure technical language and terminology, and clear and effective communication skills. If you experience any technical difficulties with the CS Jobs system, please contact the Support Team at candidate@support.oleeo.com Person specification The Area Manager is responsible for ensuring the following key outputs: Soft FM services (cleaning, catering, waste management, retail & leisure) Hard FM Core delivery (maintenance, repair and replacement of buildings and associated infrastructure) Hard FM Additional Works delivery (typical annual programme value circa 40m) Statutory/Mandatory asset compliance Management of the Environment (e.g. sensitive habitat) Liaison with customers, end users and industry partners Applicants must be able to demonstrate: Significant estate/infrastructure management experience at a senior management level of not less than five years (Essential). Project and programme management experience (Essential) Leadership experience of managing a sizeable team (Essential) Post duration will be 3 yrs with possible extensions thereafter up to a maximum of 5 years (this is standard for overseas tours of this type). The successful applicant will be engaged on a permanent basis and will be posted as per the above. On completion of this tour the post holder will normally be post rotated into a suitable UK-based position. Licences Driving Licence There may be a requirement to travel around overseas establishments and outlying sites, sometimes this may be over rough tracks only accessible by 4x4 vehicle, therefore a full UK driving licence is required.
