Live out Housekeeper/Cook Job in South Kensington, London – September start
Greycoat Lumleys has a new client seeking an experienced, proactive Housekeeper/Cook to help manage the smooth running of their busy family home in Kensington. The household consists of a couple and their three children — a newborn, a 3-year-old, and a 6-year-old. The family also employ a live in nanny who is responsible for the children’s rooms, children’s laundry, and her own bedroom.
The family live in a beautifully renovated 4,900 sq ft home set over four floors, with a small, terraced garden. The role will involve a combination of housekeeping and family cooking duties, as well as assisting with the general upkeep and organisation of the household. The family enjoys a variety of simple, nutritious dishes, including Western, French, Italian, Mediterranean, and Asian cuisine, so a good understanding of these styles of cooking would be highly desirable. The family travels to Europe for one month to one month and a half during the summer, and the successful candidate will be required to travel with them. One week off will be provided during the trip to return home.
Duties include:
1. Cleaning to a high standard
2. Laundry and ironing
3. Managing dry cleaning
4. Accepting deliveries
5. Shopping, including the weekly online orders and local shops (such as butchers and fishmongers)
6. Cooking for the family:
7. Breakfast daily
8. Lunch for the husband approx. twice per week
9. Dinner for the whole family approx. three times per week
10. Occasional babysitting
11. Assisting when the family entertains
12. Cleaning and tidying the garden
13. Traveling with the family to Europe in the summer (1-1.5 months – open to give a week’s break halfway through)
14. Other ad hoc household duties as required
The ideal candidate will have prior experience working in a similar private household role and will be confident working in a high-standard home with marble surfaces, wooden flooring, and carpeted areas. They should be organised, flexible, child-friendly, and confident in preparing fresh, healthy family meals. Holidays can be taken with notice to the employer; however, most Bank Holidays (apart from Easter and Christmas Bank Holidays) will be working days, with time off in lieu provided. A proactive attitude and attention to detail are essential for this position.
