Job Summary
An exciting opportunity to join the Therapies department as the Clinical Lead Occupational Therapist within the Respiratory team at Northampton General Hospital. 12 month fixed term contract to cover maternity leave, 32 hours per week. Secondments will be considered.
Responsibilities
* Lead the Occupational Therapy Clinical Lead for the Respiratory and Critical Care Therapy Team.
* Manage a clinical caseload in this area, including complex cases.
* Provide clinical expertise and leadership to a large team of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Therapy Support staff.
* Lead on the annual appraisal of allocated staff and collate a training needs analysis.
* Identify and manage clinical performance issues within therapy staff.
* Develop and implement guidelines, protocols and practices that enhance patient experience.
* Lead on the implementation of action plans from national and local strategies, benchmarking standards and clinical audits.
* Represent the therapy services at specialty and trust-wide forums and provide feedback.
* Deputise for other therapy leads as required.
Qualifications
* BSc Honours (or equivalent) in Physiotherapy or Occupational Therapy.
* Health and Care Professions Council Registration.
* UK Work Permit (if applicable).
* Experience of assessment, goal setting, planning, implementation and review of clinical therapy interventions in respiratory/critical care settings.
* Experience working in the NHS and in a multi-disciplinary team.
* Experience managing a clinical caseload and prioritising work.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Self‑management skills.
* Leadership and team motivation skills.
Desirable
* Clinical Educator Training.
* Evidence of involvement in research and clinical audit.
* Experience leading a team.
* Experience or knowledge of working in an Inpatient Elderly Medicine setting.
