Overview
This is a fast-paced and diverse role in which you will work closely with Programme Leaders, the Head of Area and alongside other Animal Care Technicians to provide the best-suited care for our variety of animals. A fundamental part of the role is to support the overarching curriculum of the Animal Care department. This role includes setting up areas for practical lessons, supporting staff and students within the practical area, and maintaining high welfare standards for all animals on site.
Responsibilities
* Providing animal husbandry (including cleaning, feeding, watering, providing enrichment and enclosure maintenance).
* Ensuring practical areas are fully resourced and ready for use in practical teaching and learning sessions.
* Assisting and providing tours and demonstrations to designated groups and visitors.
* Supervision of students from level 1 to 6 within Animal Care while working on the practical unit.
* Maintaining animal health records.
* Stock taking and supporting the maintenance of stock records and accurate record keeping.
* Assisting with the running of the two on-site business.
Qualifications and Requirements
* The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, with a focus on the day-to-day care of animals and experience of working in an animal establishment.
* Candidates should have Level 2/GCSE English and Maths (or willingness to work towards).
* Level 2 or higher qualification (or willingness to work towards) in a related area.
