Job summary
We are looking for Theatre Support workers to join our team at Chorley and South Ribble Hospital. We have full-time roles, including a permanent position in the Ophthalmology Theatres, and both full-time and part-time positions in other theatres within Chorley.
Our Theatre support workers play an essential role in the smooth running of our theatres and help us maintain high-quality patient care in a clean and safe environment.
We seek enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join our theatre team within Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Foundation Trust. The role involves a rotation of shifts, including weekends.
You will support your team in achieving high standards of patient care and demonstrate commitment to your role as a valued team member.

Main duties of the job
Theatre support workers are part of our operating team supporting theatre staff. They participate as circulating team members, assisting scrub practitioners during surgery, and reassuring patients who may be anxious about entering the operating theatre.
You will need a supportive and flexible approach to service delivery and participate in the movement of clean and dirty instrumentation throughout the theatre complex.
We are looking for a flexible team player with good communication skills who can demonstrate and promote our Trust Values.

Job responsibilities
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
* Providing high-quality, personalized care throughout the peri-operative journey in line with standards.
* Assisting in patient positioning before surgery and in recovery, ensuring pressure areas are protected and comfort maintained.
* Handling and storing patient specimens safely, following Trust policies.
* Supporting patient safety by complying with health, safety, and security legislation, policies, and guidelines.
* Engaging proactively in the Trust's safety initiatives.
* Maintaining a safe, clean, and efficient care environment adhering to hygiene standards.
* Communicating and documenting information promptly and appropriately.
Person Specification
Qualifications & Education
* Numeracy and literacy skills at Level 1/Grade D/Grade 3 or above.
* Level 2 QCF diploma in healthcare or NVQ Level 2.
* GCSE Maths & English grade C or above / Grade 4-9 or Functional Skills Level 2 in numeracy and literacy.
Knowledge & Experience
* Previous experience working with the public.
* Understanding of confidentiality principles.
* Experience in healthcare or theatre settings preferred.
* Basic understanding of infection control principles.
