Overview
Deputy Director of Pharmacy at Dorset County Hospital. The post is open to either a registered Pharmacist or Pharmacy Technician at a senior NHS level who is ready for the next step in their leadership journey. The role deputises for the Director of Pharmacy and leads workstreams across the Pharmacy department and Medicines Optimisation.

These leadership areas are open to negotiation depending on the successful applicant’s experience and development needs.
Main Responsibilities
* Assist the Director of Pharmacy in strategic and operational management of Pharmacy Services, including budgetary control, business case preparation, and management information provision to managers, clinicians and the Finance Department.
* Set objectives and key performance indicators across all activities; oversee medicines management and clinical governance; deliver cost improvement/income generation strategies.
* Deputise for the Director of Pharmacy: support staff, ensure a safe, efficient and professional service, attend trust-wide meetings, and present Pharmacy papers to Executive Directors, Board, and SMT as required.
* Chair Medicines Safety responsibilities as applicable and maintain liaison with DCHFT Medicines Committee.

Requirements and Information
* Education, Qualifications & Training – Masters degree in Pharmacy or relevant healthcare leadership; GPhC registration as Pharmacist or Pharmacy Technician.
* Desirable – Membership of RPSGB or APTUK.
* Experience – Senior management within a Pharmacy Department; knowledge of NHS drug funding; ability to prepare drug evaluations and perform drug use reviews; experience supervising pharmacists and pharmacy technicians and conducting appraisals.
* Skills – Excellent written and verbal communication; project/programme management; ability to influence, negotiate with senior managers, and manage change; ability to work with commissioners and resolve conflicts of interest; knowledge of ePMA, JAC pharmacy system, and government health policies.
* Desirable Skills – Knowledge of disease states and drug treatments, risk management in the NHS, and effective time management; ability to write up and present project and audit work.
