This role will require a level of Security clearance ( DV ), which you will undergo.
The Storage Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, and 24/7 operational support of the organization’s data storage and virtualization ecosystem. You will ensure high availability, data integrity, and performance across multi-vendor SAN/NAS environments while maintaining a secure infrastructure through PKI and Windows Server management.
* Design & Provisioning: Deploy enterprise storage solutions (e.g., NetApp ONTAP, Dell PowerMax/Unity, Pure Storage).
* Fabric Administration: Manage SAN switches (Brocade/Cisco), including zoning, masking, and firmware lifecycle management.
* Performance Tuning: Monitor I/O latency, throughput, and utilization; perform root-cause analysis on storage bottlenecks.
* Data Protection: Oversee backup, replication (SnapMirror/SRDF), and Disaster Recovery (DR) orchestration.
* vSphere Administration: Manage ESXi hosts and vCenter Server instances (v7.x/v8.x).
* Storage Integration: Configure VMFS datastores, vVOLs, and RDM (Raw Device Mapping).
* Optimization: Manage Resource Pools, DRS, HA, and Storage vMotion to ensure seamless workload mobility.
Windows Server & Infrastructure
* OS Management: Administer Windows Server (2019/2022) environments, focusing on File Services, Failover Clustering, and MPIO (Multi-path I/O).
* Directory Services: Maintain Active Directory (AD) health as it relates to storage permissions and service accounts.
Technical Requirements
* Storage Protocols: Deep understanding of FC, iSCSI, NFS, and SMB/CIFS.
* Enterprise Storage: 5+ years of hands-on experience with at least two major vendors (NetApp, Dell, Pure, or HPE).
* VMware: Proficiency in vSphere 7/8, including Site Recovery Manager (SRM) and vSAN.
* Windows Server: Expert-level knowledge of Windows Failover Clustering and storage-related Group Policy Objects (GPOs).
Desirable / Niche Skills
* PKI (Public Key Infrastructure):
* Experience managing Certificate Authorities (CA) and certificate lifecycles.
* Ability to implement data-at-rest encryption using KMIP or local key management.
* Securing storage management interfaces and API calls via SSL/TLS certificates.
* Automation: Scripting experience with PowerShell/PowerCLI or Ansible to automate volume provisioning.
Qualifications & Certifications
* Degree: BS in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience.
* Certifications (Preferred):
* Storage: NCIE (NetApp), DCM (Dell), or Pure Storage Certified.
* Security: CompTIA Security+ or knowledge of Zero Trust Architecture.
