About the Role A leading provider of engineered water treatment solutions is seeking a Mechanical Fitter to join its UK Delivery Team. This role focuses on the assembly, installation, and maintenance of large fabricated steel products such as settlement tank scraper bridges, gravity thickeners, aerators, and access steelwork.
This position is ideal for a hands-on, experienced professional who enjoys site-based work and wants to be part of a skilled team supporting key infrastructure projects across the UK.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out on-site mechanical installation of large fabricated products and steel structures for water and wastewater treatment facilities.
Work with mild and stainless steelwork – cutting, grinding, welding, and fixing.
Install and maintain pipework systems (stainless, ductile, mild steel, etc.).
Ensure all work complies with Health & Safety standards, British Standards, and ISO requirements.
Complete repairs, upgrades, and refurbishments on existing systems.
Collaborate with colleagues, contractors, and clients to achieve high-quality outcomes.
Complete daily reports and documentation in line with company HSQE policies.
Promote continuous improvement and contribute ideas to enhance installation quality and efficiency. Key Skills & Experience
Engineering qualification (City & Guilds / HNC or equivalent).
Minimum 2 years’ experience in mechanical fitting within utilities, M&E, or industrial sectors.
Proven experience with steel fabrication, welding, and site mechanical work.
Experience with structural steelwork or rotating equipment installation is an advantage.
Electrical awareness or relevant certification desirable.
Strong communication skills and a collaborative work ethic.
Physically fit and comfortable working on large, heavy installations.
Previous UK water industry experience highly desirable.
Willingness to travel regionally and nationally, including overnight stays.
Full UK driving licence required. What’s on Offer
