The Health Care Support Worker is an essential member of a multi‑disciplinary team providing high standards of care for patients as well as support and comfort to family members, friends and carers. The role is based in Savernake Ward, which provides 24‑hour care 7 days a week. Ideal candidates will be able to work a variety of shifts and may enjoy flexible working patterns.
In addition to essential care and support, the role offers development opportunities in monitoring and recording patient observations, ECGs and phlebotomy. Unfortunately we are unable to offer overseas sponsorship at this time.
Responsibilities
* Work within a multi‑professional team in an inpatient setting, providing support, care, and treatment to individuals in accordance with guidelines and protocols.
* Provide a high level of essential care, helping maintain personal hygiene, continence, mobility, nutrition, and hydration of patients.
* Promote rehabilitation and encouraging patients to regain and maintain independence.
* Monitor and record patient observations, ECGs, and perform phlebotomy under supervision.
* Assist in the manual handling of patients using appropriate lifting aids.
* Support other workers and engage in continuous learning to enhance patient‑focused care.
Qualifications & Attributes
* Care Certificate or willingness to achieve.
* Experience working under supervision and supporting other workers.
* Ability to work as a team member and deliver patient‑focused care.
* Capacity to recognise own limitations.
* Physical ability to manually handle patients and use appropriate lifting aids.
* Willingness to undertake specific nursing/therapy skills.
* Driven, self‑motivated with good time‑management skills.
