Responsive Repairs Supervisor – Somerset Council
* £36,875 - £40,641 per annum, inclusive of a remuneration package of £4,278 per annum payable until 30 June 2027
* 37 hours: 0800 to 1600 Monday - Thursday, 0800 to 15:30 Friday
* This role is based at West Park Depot, Chelston Business Park, Wellington
* 28 days annual leave, excluding bank holidays

What will I be doing?
* Leading and managing a team of tradespeople to deliver high quality repairs and maintenance across the housing stock
* Inspecting completed works to ensure it meets safety standards, building regulations and quality expectations
* Coordinating with other trades and supervisors to ensure seamless delivery of multi – trade repairs
* Providing on-site guidance, mentoring and training to team members to support their development
* Ensuring compliance with Health and Safety regulations, promoting a safe working environment
* Liaising with tenants, contractors and internal teams to resolve issues and maintain high levels of customer satisfaction
What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?
* Proven experience in carpentry, ideally with supervisory responsibilities in housing maintenance or construction environment
* Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a team of tradespeople effectively
* Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, building codes and technical specifications
* Solid understanding of construction techniques, materials and safety regulations
* Excellent communication skills and problem‑solving skills to liaise with tenants, contractors and internal teams
* A commitment to mentoring and developing team members through on‑site guidance and training
Preferred qualifications:
* NVQ Level 3 or 4 in Carpentry and Joinery
* Site Supervisors Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS) or Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS)
* Health and Safety Certification CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme, ideally at Supervisory level)
