The Role
Join our team as a Special Needs Education Assistant and support the Department's objective of teaching and learning for students with special needs. You will assist in the implementation of specialised education programs such as occupational therapy, speech therapy and physiotherapy, helping to ensure that students receive the best possible education.
Working closely with teachers, you will support the delivery of planned education programs using explicit teaching and evidence-based instructional strategies aligned with whole school approaches to improving literacy and numeracy outcomes. You will assist in implementing individual and small group programs, including the use of computers and digital technologies, and provide feedback to support the ongoing evaluation of education and therapy programs.
Strong behaviour support capabilities are essential, with a focus on building genuine, positive relationships with students. You will support the implementation of the school’s Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) framework, alongside trauma-informed practices and cultural awareness, contributing to a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
