Job Summary: 37.5 hours per week. Livewell South West has created new nursing assistant posts which provide enhanced care to individuals who require 1:1 support. The role of the OOA prevention Nursing Assistant is to assist the trained nurses in delivering physical, social and psychological care to patients/clients with mental health problems/illness, admitted to a Livewell South West (LWSW) MH unit. The primary function is to support patients during their acute illness to prevent them being sent out of area, with the aim of receiving the best care close to home. Experience in working within Mental Health and providing 1:1 care to individuals with complex needs (including eating disorders, dementia and acute mental illness) is required. A UK driving license is essential at recruitment.

Main duties
* Based within the Glenbourne unit on one of the acute wards, with the ability to move across services on short notice.
* Flexible in shift patterns to provide a responsive 24/7 service (including nights). Shifts may include 7-3, 9-5, 12-8, 8-8 and nights.
* Work within Mental Health wards of LWSW; interact with relatives, carers and other agencies; contribute to care plans and record information using the CPA process on electronic patient notes under supervision of the registered nurse.
* Undertake tasks under direction after adequate instruction; registered nurse retains responsibility for decision making.
* May not be eligible for sponsorship under Skilled Worker route; check eligibility.
* All staff expected to work across a 7 day service.

Job Description and Responsibilities
* Work under the direction of a registered nursing member; may not have direct supervision at all times.
* Maintain patient confidentiality; comply with Health and Safety at Work Act and Trust policies.
* Understand Mental Health Act; support 1:1 activities, risk management, and therapeutic plans as directed by the registered nurse.
* Participate in care provision, receive and relay patient care reports to the nurse in charge; maintain appropriate records in line with Care Plans/Assessments.
* Undertake mandatory training and engage in continuing personal development; receive supervision and contribute to audits.
* Escort patients between wards/departments and to community areas as designated; support admissions/discharge processes.
* Conform to policies on Health, Safety, Fire procedures, record keeping, and confidentiality; undertake annual competency assessments.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential
* Effective communication skills; NVQ Level 3 or equivalent
* Ability to deliver high standards of care within care programmes; team-oriented
* Ability to work on rotational shifts across 24 hours; full UK driving licence
* Record keeping skills; awareness of STR role
Desirable
* Ability to work with minimal supervision; time management; basic computer skills
* Experience in acute or other mental health settings; experience with eating disorders
* Additional skills: physical observations, solution-focused approaches, CPS knowledge, de-escalation
