Senior Community Infection Prevention Nurse (Integrated Role HB & LA's)
Senior Community Infection Prevention Nurse to provide leadership and clinical expert advice to develop, implement and evaluate an organisation-wide Infection Prevention and Control programme.
Lead infection prevention strategy across Health Board and Local Authority settings, providing expert advice on all aspects of IPC. Manage education, training, risk management, quality improvement, policy development and surveillance processes.
Use own initiative to assess and interpret technical and clinical information, implement the IP&C programme and provide expert advice on prevention and control of all infections.
Main duties of the job
* Develop and implement IPC strategy and standards together with Health Board’s Immunisation & Health Protection Service and Local Authority.
* Lead education, training, audit and risk‑management programmes.
* Drive service development and work with stakeholders across multiple settings.
* Provide complex expert advice and challenge inappropriate practice using professional knowledge, negotiation and communication skills.
* Support the health and wellbeing of the local population through IPC interventions.
Qualifications and Knowledge
* Registered Nurse 1st Level Degree or equivalent.
* Specialist qualification in Infection Prevention and Control to Master’s Level, or equivalent experience.
* Teaching and assessment qualification.
* Evidence of continued professional development.
* Willingness to attend IPC study days, conferences and national events.
* Willingness to work toward a Master’s degree.
Experience
* Band 6 experience within an IPC or similar service.
* Experience working with a wide range of disciplines and grades of staff.
* Significant experience in various settings and specialties.
* Experience at a Local Authority level.
* Root Cause analysis training or willingness to undertake.
* Procurement knowledge.
* Specialist knowledge of oncology risks.
* Welsh speaker (Level 1) – desirable.

Salary
£50,129 to £57,365 a year, pro rata.
