The role
Optimal Power Networks (OPN) is SSE’s Independent Distribution Network Operator. We own and operate local electricity distribution networks serving new commercial and mixed-use developments including electric vehicle charging hubs, business parks and data centres.
You will
This is a critical role to the success of OPN and the wider SSE Distributed Energy and Customer Solutions businesses. As Head of Operations you will manage a team with overall responsibility for safe and compliant adoption and operation of distribution networks up to 132kV. Responsibilities include:
* Design and Safety Standards, including Design Approval up to 132kV
* Adoption of Network Assets constructed by ICPs
* Safe Systems of Work, Distribution Safety Rules and Operational Authorisations
* Network Inspections, Monitoring and Network Planning
* Emergency Service Provision and Customer Contact Centre
You have
You will have experience in electricity distribution networks, either in a DNO or IDNO, and a detailed understanding of the interactions between IDNOs, DNOs, ICPs and Transmission Operators, and the Industry Codes that govern them.
* Asset Management or Operations Management experience in Electricity Networks up to at least 33kV
* Degree in relevant engineering discipline
* Knowledge of Codes governing Electricity Distribution Networks including DCUSA, Grid Code and Distribution Code
* Working knowledge and experience of electricity network design, installation and maintenance, including network automation
* Stakeholder management skills, with experience of managing direct staff and external service providers
