Overview
The School of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Southampton is seeking a Senior Teaching Laboratory Technician to support the delivery of a high‑quality student experience in Physics & Astronomy teaching laboratories.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide technical support for undergraduate teaching laboratories, including design, set‑up, maintenance, testing and demonstration of laboratory experiments.
* Manage the running of the laboratories, maintain and update experiments as required.
* Demonstrate experiments to students and staff and ensure smooth operation during teaching terms.
* Use term breaks to improve experiments and the lab environment according to passion and interests.
* Communicate effectively with diverse individuals and work independently or with minimal supervision.
Qualifications & Requirements
Experience in physics laboratory support and a good understanding of physics and experimental method is advantageous. Strong communication, teamwork and the ability to ask for help when needed.
