Responsibilities
* Diagnose and resolve equipment failures across mechanical, electrical, and related systems, identifying root causes and implementing sustainable fixes.
* Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) tasks in line with program schedules to reduce downtime and extend equipment life, ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
* Monitor and maintain cold‑store systems, ensuring the plant operates within temperature thresholds, supporting refrigeration servicing schedules, and reporting any deviations or concerns to leadership promptly.
* Reduce downtime, improve reliability of electrical and mechanical equipment, and support the wider team in solving problems to keep the facility moving.
* Work in a cold environment (~−18 °C) with full PPE provided, and perform occasional ladder work at height.
Qualifications
* Recognised qualification in Electrical Engineering (NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, ONC/HNC or equivalent); Mechanical Engineering knowledge also beneficial.
* Proven hands‑on experience in a maintenance role, ideally with refrigeration and mobile racking.
* Strong fault‑finding and problem‑solving skills across mechanical and electrical systems.
* Familiarity with food‑safety standards, health & safety legislation, and maintenance best practices.
* Willingness to learn and improve professional skills.
* Effective communication in English, with a proactive and adaptable approach.
