About the Setting

This specialist environment is built on a strong ethos of inclusion, respect, safety, and collaboration, where every pupil, family, and member of staff is valued. The culture centres on ensuring everyone feels included, respected and safe, with achievements celebrated collectively.

The setting is committed to providing meaningful, challenging learning experiences that promote communication, independence, personal development, confidence and life skills. Learning is personalised and carefully matched to each pupil’s needs, using pre‑formal, semi‑formal, and adapted National Curriculum pathways.

About the Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial part in helping pupils engage, thrive and make meaningful progress in a nurturing, supportive environment. You will support pupils across a range of learning pathways, including sensory‑based, play‑based, life‑skills‑focused and accredited learning routes—depending on their individual needs.

You will work closely with teachers, therapists, families and external professionals to create a consistent, positive experience for every pupil. Partnership working is a core part of the setting’s ethos of “working together to do our best.”

Key Responsibilities

* Provide personalised 1:1 and small‑group support, tailored to individual communication, sensory, and learning needs.
* Adapt activities and resources to ensure they are accessible, engaging, and appropriate to each pupil’s learning pathway.
* Follow guidance from EHCPs and individual support plans to support progress in communication, independence, cognition and self‑care.
* Use specialist strategies including sensory integration, visual supports, total communication and behaviour regulation approaches.

* Support learning across the whole school day, helping pupils engage in varied contexts including classroom activities, outdoor learning, life‑skills tasks, therapy‑linked sessions and community visits.
* Promote independence and confidence, supporting pupils to prepare for life beyond school, including real‑life skills, social interaction and community experiences.
* Encourage a calm, respectful and inclusive environment that reflects the core values of respect, integrity and collaboration.

-----------------------------------

About You

We are looking for someone who is:

* Passionate about supporting children and young people with diverse and complex SEND
* Calm, patient, resilient and reflective
* A positive communicator who builds trust with pupils, families and colleagues
* Proactive, flexible and a strong team player
* Committed to promoting independence, communication and personal growth
-----------------------------------

Requirements
