A specialist Primary PMLD provision in Ealing is seeking a caring and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support children with profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD). This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about helping children access learning, develop life skills, and thrive in a nurturing environment.
Role Overview
As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:
* Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with PMLD
* Assist with daily learning activities, communication, and personal care needs
* Support emotional regulation, engagement, and wellbeing of pupils
* Work closely with the class teacher and multidisciplinary team to implement EHCP targets
* Adapt teaching resources to ensure learning is accessible and inclusive
* Maintain accurate records and reports of pupil progress
* Promote a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment
Essential Requirements
* Previous experience working with children with PMLD or complex SEN needs
* Knowledge of communication strategies such as Makaton, PECS, or other AAC systems
* Ability to provide personal care and support daily routines
* Strong interpersonal and teamworking skills
* Child and Adult DBS on the Update Service – essential
* Commitment to inclusive education and personalised learning
Desirable Skills
* Experience in a Primary PMLD setting
* Understanding of behaviour management strategies for complex needs
* Ability to support therapeutic programmes and sensory activities
* Willingness to contribute to school events and extracurricular activities
