We’re seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head of Commercial Broking to lead the commercial broking function within a well-established, independent insurance brokerage. You’ll manage a team of eight experienced brokers, drive technical excellence, and lead placement strategy across a diverse portfolio of commercial clients.


Base Pay Range

Competitive salary up to £100,000 plus bonus structure linked to company growth.


Key Responsibilities

* Define and deliver the broking strategy aligned with the firm’s growth objectives.
* Contribute to overall business planning as part of the senior management team.
* Lead continuous improvement initiatives across placement, process, and client outcomes.


Team Management

* Lead, mentor, and develop a team of eight commercial brokers.
* Ensure high levels of technical competence, collaboration, and professional growth.
* Foster a culture of accountability, compliance, and service excellence.


Market and Insurer Relations

* Maintain strong working relationships with insurers and underwriters.
* Negotiate terms, coverage, and pricing to achieve best client outcomes.
* Monitor and share market developments, trends, and insights across the team.


Technical Oversight

* Oversee the placement of complex and high-value commercial risks.
* Provide hands‑on technical support and guidance on key accounts.
* Ensure documentation and placement processes meet regulatory standards.


Governance and Compliance

* Uphold FCA and internal compliance standards across all broking activity.
* Oversee MI reporting, audits, and governance frameworks.


Commercial Contribution

* Collaborate with directors and account executives to support new business and renewals.
* Deliver cost‑effective broking solutions that enhance client value and company margin.
* Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and profitability across the department.


About You

* Minimum 10 years’ experience in commercial insurance, with strong broking expertise.
* Proven leadership or team management experience.
* Technical depth in Property Owners, Commercial Combined, and wider lines such as Liabilities, Fleet, PI, and D&O.
* Strong negotiation, influencing, and relationship management skills.
* Proactive, resilient, and comfortable in a hands‑on, fast‑paced environment.
