Fixed Term or Secondment for 12 Months
About Us
Targeted Early Help work in Devon is striving to provide all children and families with support and help when they need it to enable them to make their best family outcomes and prevent the need for statutory services to engage. We are embedding a restorative practice model that focuses on relational ways of working and harnessing strengths from within the immediate and wider family through a solution focussed lens.
We are proud of our workforce and recognise that they are committed to providing the best service possible. A strong learning and development culture is seen throughout the Early Help and Partnerships arena, including access to higher level modern day apprenticeships in management and leadership.
About the Role
Re-launched in September 2024, the Family Intervention Team works as a specialist county-wide service with families with children aged 0-18 as a ‘family help’ service across Devon. A voluntary and consent based service from a strong family led aspect, FIT works within an 'assess, plan, intervene and review' cycle. We deliver a bespoke intervention package working with families, to help them stay safe, reduce the risks of family breakdown and prevent escalation to statutory services.
The team has been further developed to shape out our exciting next phase. Going forward, the service will offer increased flexibility by contributing to an extended hours service, utilising a rota system across 7 days and until 10 pm at night. This will be a significant support offer for children and families in Devon.
Working as part of one of 3 locality based teams, the Family Practitioner works collaboratively with colleagues, communities and in partnership with families, to achieve sustained change. Working as a Family Practitioner within FIT, you will predominately work within the community, including undertaking regular home visits and attending meetings in schools. This recruitment is for a 12 month secondment or fixed term contract opportunity in West Devon, covering Okehampton, Tavistock and surrounding areas.
About You
The Family Intervention Team is a fast paced, busy environment. Experience of working with families is essential, particularly experience of offering parenting work through evidence based interventions. The ability to adapt, be dynamic and respond to changeable demand is important.
If you are ready to take on a position that offers you the opportunity to work alongside and improve outcomes for the children, young people, families and their communities in Devon, we want to hear from you.
