Salary: Up to £40,000 + London Weighting depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

Job Introduction

Panorama is the BBC’s multi-award-winning flagship currents affairs series, making films for BBC One and iPlayer, with Value for All news impact across multiple platforms and outlets, including socials. Panorama produces a broad portfolio of films including undercover investigations, social affairs, international affairs news reactive fast turnarounds, access documentaries, and presenter led films.

Main Responsibilities

1. Initiating ideas for films and developing creative treatments across a wide range of subjects both domestic and international.
2. Setting up shoots and dealing with logistics / schedules
3. Finding contributors and forging working relationships with them before, during and after broadcast.
4. Supporting a producer / director and reporter in shaping the editorial direction of a film.
5. Taking responsibility for fact checking and accuracy
6. Generating ideas and material for a range of digital outlets, including filming and editing material where required
7. Having or developing strong relationships within the BBC as well as the independent sector.

Are you the right candidate?

8. Proven track record in major journalistic techniques, for example, FOIs, open source, data etc.
9. Demonstrable self-shooting and lighting skills – sequences and interviews.
10. The ability to communicate clearly and produce effective briefs for filming assignments.
11. Substantial knowledge of audiences both digital and terrestrial.
12. Good technical understanding of broadcast cameras and production workflows, an interest in and an ability to adapt to the latest technologies
13. Clear knowledge and understanding of the BBC’s compliance framework including the editorial guidelines, legal and high-risk compliance.
14. An understanding of the importance of health & safety, especially on location.
15. Understanding of data protection issues and secure storage of material.
