Water safety is an important part of a child's education, and delivering our Water Safety messages to as many children as possible is a priority for the Canal & River Trust. Can you help us deliver our water safety programme in schools across Wigan?
Due to the success of our programme in Wigan, we're looking for more volunteers to join our existing team to ensure we can continue reaching children with our water safety messages.
Volunteering is flexible, requiring around half a day a week for assembly delivery. The role involves travelling across Wigan to visit pupils during school hours; there is less to do during school holidays.
Our water safety education programme includes story time sessions for under 5s, assemblies for 5-11 year olds, and classroom workshops for 11-14 year olds.
We're seeking volunteers who are good organizers and confident communicators, capable of speaking in front of large groups of children.
We provide full training, resources, and support from a Learning & Skills Coordinator, along with team meetings. Travel costs are reimbursed.
This role involves regulated activity with children, as defined by the Protection of Freedoms Act 2012. An Enhanced Criminal Record check and references will be undertaken; a criminal record does not necessarily disqualify you from volunteering.
