We are seeking a highly skilled Fiber Network Engineer to join our dynamic team. As a Fiber Network Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing, installing, and maintaining our fiber optic network infrastructure. Your expertise in fiber optic technology will be instrumental in ensuring reliable and high-performance network connectivity for our customers.
Specific Responsibilities
* Network Design:
o Develop and implement comprehensive fiber optic network designs, considering factors such as network topology, capacity planning, and scalability.
o Create detailed network diagrams and documentation to support installation and maintenance activities.
* Installation and Deployment:
o Oversee and participate in the installation of fiber optic cables, splicing, and termination procedures.
o Configure and test fiber optic equipment, including optical transceivers, switches, and routers.
o Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations during network installations.
* Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
o Monitor network performance and identify potential issues proactively.
o Diagnose and troubleshoot fiber optic network faults, including fiber breaks, attenuation, and equipment failures.
o Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as cleaning connectors and inspecting cables.
* Project Management:
o Coordinate and manage fiber optic network projects, from planning to implementation.
o Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project delivery.
* Documentation:
o Maintain accurate and up-to-date network documentation, including diagrams, procedures, and configuration files.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
* Certification in fiber optic technologies (e.g., Certified Fiber Optic Technician (CFOT), Certified Fiber Optic Installer (CFI)).
* Minimum of 4 years of experience in fiber optic network design, installation, and maintenance.
* Strong understanding of fiber optic principles, including propagation, attenuation, and dispersion.
* Proficiency in fiber optic testing equipment (OTDR, power meter, etc.).
* Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience with network management tools and protocols (e.g., SNMP, NetFlow).
* Knowledge of network security best practices.
* Experience in data center or telecom environments.
