Associate Sleep Practitioner
We are recruiting a Band 4 Associate Sleep Practitioner to join the Dorset Sleep Service based at St Leonards Hospital in Ringwood. The closing date for applications is 22 June 2026.
Overview
The Dorset Sleep Service provides diagnostic sleep studies and CPAP therapy for patients across Dorset. The role is full‑time, based mainly in East Dorset with occasional cover in Weymouth and Dorchester.
Key Responsibilities
* Issue and download sleep study devices.
* Monitor a live database of CPAP patients, escalating any issues to senior staff.
* Receive and record phone calls and emails from patients.
* Prepare and collect CPAP equipment.
* Perform routine clinical and administrative duties – cleaning equipment, updating patient records, filing.
* Support service targets and participate in regular reviews and improvement initiatives.
Person Specification
Education, Qualifications & Training
* 5 GCSEs including English and Maths.
* Level 3 qualification (e.g., A‑Level, NVQ3, BTEC).
* Basic Life Support training.
* Certification in ARTP Pulse Oximetry & Polygraphy (or willing to obtain).
Knowledge & Experience
* Basic understanding of sleep studies, obstructive sleep apnoea and CPAP therapy.
* Experience in a respiratory, sleep medicine, or ventilation service (preferred).
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office and specialist sleep study/CPAP software.
* Experience in customer service and stock control.
Skills & Abilities
* Adapt communication to suit a variety of situations.
* Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
* Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines.
* Willingness to travel to other sites across Dorset.
* Good fine‑motor skills and hand‑eye coordination.
* Innovative and creative problem‑solving approach.
* Enthusiastic about developing a new service.
Disclosure and Barring Service Check
