The private members' club, located in the heart of London, is seeking an experienced
Sommelier
to join our team. The successful candidate will be part of a small, professional team providing an exceptional wine and beverage experience to our Members and their guests.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage the day-to-day operations of the wine service.
* Ensure the wine cellar and service areas are fully stocked and organized.
* Liaise with the Control Clerk, Bar, and Kitchen teams to replenish stock and record requisitions accurately.
* Serve Members and their guests in a professional, friendly, and efficient manner, fulfilling any specific wine requests.
* Assist with the service of food and beverages within the Club.
* Maintain high levels of hygiene, cleanliness, and presentation at all times.
* Provide guidance to other staff on wine selections and service etiquette.
* Attend occasional professional wine tastings and events.
* Participate in ongoing training opportunities, including WSET Level 3 after probation, and possibly Diploma after at least one year of service.
* Report any incidents, equipment failures, or issues promptly to management.
* Arrive for duty on time, in clean and presentable uniform, maintaining a professional appearance and demeanour at all times.
Requirements:
* Previous experience as a Sommelier, or in a similar role in a private members' club, high-end restaurant, or luxury hospitality environment.
* Passion for wine and beverage service, with a desire to develop expertise further.
* Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Strong team player with a proactive and professional attitude.
* Knowledge of food hygiene practices and health & safety regulations.
* Eligibility to work in the UK.
