About the Role – Sous Chef Responsibilities in a Watford Gastro Pub
* Support the Head Chef in the smooth, efficient running of the gastropub kitchen, covering all key service periods.
* Prepare, cook, and present modern British pub dishes and specials to consistently high standards.
* Lead and motivate the kitchen team, stepping up in the Head Chef's absence.
* Maintain strict food hygiene, allergen, and health & safety procedures in accordance with food industry regulations.
* Assist with menu planning, stock control, and supplier management.
* Train and support junior chefs to build a positive, productive kitchen environment.
* Minimize food waste through effective prep and stock rotation.
Ideal Candidate Profile – Gastro Pub Temp Sous Chef (Watford)
* Strong experience working as a Sous Chef, Senior Chef de Partie, or above in pub, restaurant, or hotel kitchens.
* Confident working under pressure and leading shifts in a busy gastropub environment.
* Sound knowledge of contemporary British cuisine and seasonal ingredients.
* Solid understanding of food safety, health and safety, and allergen compliance in a UK hospitality context.
* Reliable, punctual, adaptable, and a team player with great communication skills.
* Immediate availability for temporary work. Right to work in the UK is essential.
