The post holder will work as part of a team for the Primary Care Enhanced Access Service based in Havant and Waterlooville. They will provide clinical assessment and treatment to ensure a safe, efficient, and reliable clinical service. The role involves collaborating closely with the Clinical Lead and Service Manager, as well as developing relationships with secondary care, GP colleagues, and the wider healthcare community. The post holder will ensure patients receive optimal care in the appropriate setting within the healthcare system, adhering to health policies and standard operating procedures, and refining them as needed.
In the primary care clinic, the post holder will conduct clinical assessments, reviews, examinations, and request appropriate investigations such as x-rays, scans, and blood tests. They will develop diagnoses and management plans, and on occasion, make referrals to specialists, ensuring referrals are credible and appropriate. The service team includes GPs, nurses, paramedics, healthcare assistants, and non-clinical staff.
The key responsibilities include:
1. Providing clinical assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of patients.
2. Requesting and interpreting investigations (e.g., x-rays, scans, blood tests).
3. Making safe and appropriate referrals to secondary care.
4. Delivering emergency care when needed while awaiting transfer.
5. Providing clinical advice and support to colleagues.
6. Contributing to teaching, training, and service improvement initiatives.
