Assistant Quantity Surveyor – Stonework & Restoration\n \n Location: Central London (with site visits required)\n Salary: Up to £45,000 + package (Dependent on Experience)\n Job Type: Full-time, Permanent\n \n Our client, one of the UK’s leading specialist stonework companies, is seeking a Trainee or Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their Commercial team in their Central London head office.\n \n With a strong reputation for delivering high-end external stonework and cladding, they collaborate on prestigious projects across the UK, offering bespoke solutions to some of the most iconic buildings and developments. This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated individual to develop a career in quantity surveying within a specialist subcontracting environment.\n \n The Role – Assistant Quantity Surveyor\n \n This role is ideal for an Assistant QS with 1-2 years’ experience working in the construction industry. Working under the Commercial Manager, you will gain hands-on experience across key commercial activities, including estimating, cost management, contract administration, and procurement.\n \n Key Responsibilities\n \nAssist in reviewing, analysing, and producing detailed quotations by measuring drawings, pricing, and estimating.
\nSupport the valuing, monitoring, and submission of monthly applications for progress payments on contracted projects. \nHelp identify, review, and price variations to contracted works. \nAssist in providing a handover of awarded projects to the site team, procurement, and pre-construction activities up to site commencement.
\nCollaborate closely with project teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure effective cost control and contract management. \nSupport commercial reporting and documentation to help manage project finances. \nConduct site visits as required to understand project requirements and monitor progress.
What We’re Looking For\n \nDegree or diploma in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field (or currently studying towards one). \n1-2 years of experience in a Quantity Surveying or Estimating role within construction or a specialist subcontractor (preferred but not essential). \nStrong numerical, analytical, and organisational skills.
\nAbility to interpret architectural and construction drawings. \nProficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and basic knowledge of estimating or cost management software. \nExcellent communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
\nStone industry knowledge is advantageous but not essential, as full training will be provided. \nA keen interest in high-end stonework, restoration, and specialist construction projects. \nA full UK driving licence is beneficial due to site visit requirements.
