GLL is looking for swimming school teachers plus Baby & Pre-School Swimming Teachers based at The Sovereign Centre, Eastbourne. As a Swimming Teacher, your primary role will be to deliver excellent quality swimming lessons in line with our product SWIMBIES. Swimming Teachers deliver in the water for lessons, following the plans of the programme. Singing is a large part of the role, so you will need to be confident to sing in public. You will be the face of our baby lesson programme at centres, which means you will be expected to communicate effectively with all customers, as well as being welcoming, creating a safe, fun, and loving teaching environment.
What qualifications do I need to hold?
Baby & Pre-School Swimming Teachers must hold one of the following qualifications:
* STA Level 2 Award in Baby & Pre-School Swimming Teacher
* Swim England Level 2 Teaching Pre-School Swimming
If the above qualification is not held but you hold a STA Level 2 Award or certificate qualification and you have a passion for delivering Baby & Pre-School swimming lessons, we will work with you to help develop your delivery experience. STA Level 2 Award in Baby and Pre-School must be completed within 6 months of taking on regular lessons.
Experience/Knowledge
As a l Swimming Teacher, you will have experience and knowledge in the following areas:
1. Maintain a good and positive image of the Centre to customers and the public generally by providing a welcoming, helpful and professional poolside service.
2. Ensure the safety and control of the pupils within the swimming lesson and to ensure that all relevant regulations applicable to the centres operation are enforced and complied with.
3. Understand and follow the Safeguarding Policy and Procedure & Behaviour policy contained within the Swim School product.
4. Lead and motivate a team of teachers to deliver lessons in line with the product manual to ensure a consistent approach throughout your centres.
5. Be responsible for the swimming teacher coordination and quality team teaching when on shift. Including the co-ordination of registers, grouping swimmers and managing ratios.
6. Mentor, develop and guide your team and any newly qualified teachers by providing developmental and positive feedback to teaching teams. Attendance at Teacher Meetings and Training is required.
7. To ensure attendance is captured and accurately monitor pupil progression and update pupil progress to help pupil’s complete relevant awards in line with expected standards.
8. Assist with new-enrolments and re-enrolments as required by the General Manager.
9. Actively encourage pupils to enrol on further courses and short courses.
As a swimbies teacher you will need
* Experience working with babies & toddlers
* Experience working with parents & guardians
* Understanding of child development in relation to baby swimming lessons
* Singing is a large part of the role, so you will need to be confident to sing in public.
* Knowledge of songs and games suitable for baby swimming lessons
Planning and completing any necessary administration will be a vital part of your role, ensuring that the customer experience is positive from entering the centre through to changing and then during the lessons itself.
