How You'll Make a Difference
As an Occupational Therapist, you will enable people to recognise their strengths and abilities, with an emphasis on them setting their own goals. As part of the Central Team, you will work closely with assessing practitioners and providers to ensure independence is maximised for the individuals we work with.
What You Will Be Doing
* Complete occupational therapy assessments with service users in their own homes and build close working relationships with users, families and formal carers.
* Support the wider team using task analysis, techniques and provision of equipment, assistive technologies, and housing adaptations.
* Make recommendations for significant budget spend, ensuring maximum value for resources deployed.
* Manage a daily caseload with regular supervision and support, working alongside colleagues in a strength‑based approach aligned with the Three Conversations model.
* Advise and inform individuals and carers about available services, including those under the Care Act.
As An Advanced Occupational Therapist
* Support students on placement as an experienced practitioner.
* Keep fully up to date with core training expectations.
* Use research and evidence‑based resources to enhance practice and share learning with the team.
What We Need From You
* Hold a professional occupational therapy qualification (Dip COT, BSc Honours OT or equivalent) and be registered with the Health Professionals Council.
* Demonstrate relevant experience from hospital, community, voluntary or agency settings.
* Have up‑to‑date knowledge of legislation related to social services occupational therapy.
* Experience managing complex cases and applying excellent assessment skills.
* Excellent time management to meet service requirements.
Advanced Occupational Therapist Requirements
* Minimum of 2 years post‑qualification experience.
* Evidence of meeting essential criteria for Advanced Occupational Therapist role in South Gloucestershire council.
* Commitment to Continuous Professional Development (CPD).
What You Need To Know
* Salary are offered at points within these bands:
o Occupational Therapist: £37,280 - £39,152
o Advanced Occupational Therapist: £40,777 - £44,075
* For the Advanced Occupational Therapist role, you must detail the required evidence in your application.
* This is a part‑time role; salary pro‑rated to hours worked.
* You will be expected to travel throughout the authority and surrounding area; must have a full, valid driving licence and access to a vehicle or alternative travel means.
* Business insurance will need to be added to your insurance policy.
* Claim back mileage expenses.
* An enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is required for this post.
Interviews are anticipated to be week commencing 1st December 2025.
