Offer description

Hi, we’re Soapbox. We’re a creative studio for ideas that matter. We work with forward-thinking organisations to turn knowledge and evidence into social progress. From artificial intelligence to international development, early childhood to climate change, our clients’ work focuses on some of the most important issues of our time.

We are looking for a project manager who wants to work on projects that make a positive difference. You’ll be working alongside some of the world’s leading mission-driven organisations, helping them to turn ideas and knowledge into social progress.

Our ideal Project Manager will have a digital focus, as well as come from a broader design background. You want to put your skills to work for good, helping socially progressive organisations to communicate online. You have some experience working for non-profit clients.

You will be working alongside clients and colleagues to draw up project plans and budgets, monitoring project progress, and reporting internally and externally to ensure that deadlines and financial targets are met.

Start date: July 2025

Salary: 35k – 40k

Location: London (remote up to 3 days per week)

Type: Full-time

Principle Duties, Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

Leadership, management and advice

* Helping the Head of Digital Delivery manage the overall workload of the digital project management team
* Coordinating with other areas in the agency, such as UX, design, development and strategy to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of our project management processes (including ensuring there is a good shared understanding and clear documentation of how a project is managed)
* Attending new business pitches where required

General duties

* End-to-end project management of primarily Drupal and WordPress site builds as well as their continuous improvement
* Creating, updating, and sharing project plans and timelines and negotiating changes in scope, cost, and timings, both internally and externally
* Producing costings and providing advice either directly to clients or to assist in the drafting of formal proposals
* Ensuring all project information is recorded and updated in our project management software
* Scheduling the time of designers, developers, and other practitioners, to work on the project as required, working with the rest of the project management team
* Arranging regular standups with the project team to track progress against timescales and deliverables
* Acting as a first point of contact to clients, staying in regular communication and setting up calls and meetings when necessary
* Reminding clients and colleagues of deadlines and communicating any changes in schedule or implications of missed deadlines
* Ensuring that any changes in scope and timings are able to be resourced and are costed accurately.
* Handling client complaints and escalating to senior management if necessary
* Ensuring all ongoing projects have signed contracts and billing schedules, updating and managing these throughout the process and liaising with finance colleagues to ensure timely invoicing
* Providing administrative support to members of the operations and senior management teams as required

About us

We are a flexible and fair employer, and our values run through everything we do, from the clients we work with to the way we treat our staff. This has helped us to build a close-knit, hard-working, and ambitious team. Many of our colleagues have worked with us for a large part of their careers, advancing professionally over their years with us. And our growing roster of clients includes many of the world’s leading charities, NGOs, and research organisations.

We are committed to equality of opportunity and know that including employees with a diverse range of perspectives and experiences will improve the quality and creativity of the services we provide. We particularly welcome applications from candidates who are members of groups that are currently underrepresented at Soapbox, including LGBTQ+ people, people with disabilities, and people from minority ethnic and religious communities.

Our studios

You will typically be based in our Whitechapel studio. When we’re not working from home, that’s where you’ll find most of us. Here we have good views, snacks, barista-quality coffee, and space to work, think, and collaborate. We’re also happy to consider applicants who want to work from home on an ongoing basis.

As well as London, we have a co-working space in Bath, and a number of colleagues working fully remotely. Although we sit in lots of different places, we work as one global team, collaborating across borders and time zones.
